International Project Semester: Co-creating Fair Futures

A better society doesn’t just happen, it is crafted.

Are you ready to step outside your comfort zone and change the world? Come and study in one of Europe’s most vibrant, diverse cities? Join us in Brussels for the Co Creating Fair Futures International Project Semester, where students from around Europe come together to learn, co create, and tackle real social and spatial challenges.

This programme is designed for students who want more than theory — students who want to engage with communities, broaden their global perspectives, and become professionals capable of creating fairer futures.

With only 15 places available in Spring 2027, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, motivated group that wants to shape a fairer society.

"I have learned already more this one month, than the past three years. It's not the theory that has changed my perspective: it's how I got the chance to meet others, it's how classes are different than in my University and how it challenges me to get out of my comfort zone."

What You’ll Do

Our renewed curriculum focuses on social and spatial justice, collaboration, and real-world impact. You can build your own package by choosing between 6, 12, 20, or 30 ECTS.

1. Perspectives on Social & Spatial Justice (6 ECTS)

Explore power, privilege, inequality and urban dynamics in Brussels. Learn how justice is created by space, culture, people and policy and how you can influence it. In this course you gain knowledge and an understanding of the complexities of social and spatial justice through study visits and working groups. We try to challenge your global citizenship and critical attitude towards social issues.

2. Co Create Labs: Skills for Change (6 ECTS)

Our Projectsemester creates different environments where you collaborate across disciplines. Develop creative methods, co creation tools, and practical skills to design impactful solutions with international students and local partners. We challenge you to develope transdisciplinary skills through hands-on activities and external visits or workshops. The (dis)comfort and value of interdisciplinarity and how to collaborate on innovative solutions from different disciplines is central.

3. Professional Practice and Impact: Internship for Fair Futures

In a 18 credit internship you will gain practical experience through workplace learning and integrate together with fellow students their ‘transdisciplinary’ research about social and spatial justice in practice, supported by coaching and working groups. We will kick-start your entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work in diverse teams and develop innovative solutions. If you prefer a shorter time frame (or do only the exchange for 20 credits), we offer a 8 ECTS alternative for the internship.

Work with Brussels-based NGOs, community organisations, public services, or creative changemakers and contribute directly to ongoing social projects.

Why Brussels?

Brussels is a city of cultures, languages, and ideas. It’s politically significant, socially diverse, and full of opportunities for students who want to understand real urban challenges. You’ll be learning in the field, not just in the classroom.
If you’re curious, driven, and passionate about making an impact — this is your semester.
