Smoking ban on our campuses

Summary: Since 1 January 2025, the smoking ban has been extended on all our campuses. Smoking or vaping is now no longer allowed on the campuses, with the exception of Campus Kaai and Campus Jette, where a clearly marked smoking zone has been established. These 2 zones are located at a sufficient distance from teaching and work areas.

The smoking policy at EhB (& RITCS & KCB)

Since January 1st 2025, federal law has prohibited smoking within a 10-meter radius of the entrances and exits of educational institutions. For this reason, the smoking policy at our university college was scrutinized, and we are happy to inform you of the new and old agreements. These take effect immediately.

Smoke-free zones

Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas, including classrooms, offices, cafeterias and common areas.
Smoking is not allowed within 10 meters of entrances and exits of our buildings.
Specific outdoor areas, such as sports grounds, terraces, indoor gardens and bicycle sheds, will be completely smoke-free.

Smoking zones

For Campus Kaai and Campus Jette, a well-designated smoking zone will be established on campus. These zones are located at a sufficient distance from teaching and work areas as shown down below.
Campus Kanal, Bloemenhof, Dansaert, Kleine Zavel and Leuven do not contain private outdoor areas further than 10 meters from an entrance and exit to the building. No smoking areas are therefore provided here. A general smoking ban applies to these campuses, so smoking is only allowed off campus more than 10 meters from the entrance or exit.

Electronic cigarettes

The use of e-cigarettes and other alternative smoking products falls under the same policy as traditional tobacco products.
