Bio

Mgr. Mario Kubaš Ph.D. is an Arts manager, a journalist and a former film actor. He teaches Culture Economy, Creative industries and Media at the University of Economics in Praha. For more than five years he worked for the main channel of the public Czech Television where as a reporter made reports for the evening news. Furthermore, he worked as an editor and a moderator, Mario used to have own TV show Kulturama.Currently he creates reports for the most watched political TV show in the Czech Republic.

As an Arts manager he worked for one of the best baroque orchestra in the world Collegium 1704, he is a director of the theatre festival Modry Kocour. Mario loves sailing and as a captain spends at least one, two month on sea every year. His most beloved sailing location are northern Scotland and southern Italy.

Inside the heads of journalists. How do they construct the news.

Why do journalists pay attention only to some press releases? Why do they reflect some events and some not? Why do they react on certain campaigns and totally ignore the rest? In my lecture I will reveal some secrets how journalists reflect and reconstruct the reality. In a subsequent workshop we will be working on some case studies from a cultural sphere.
