Alexander Lindenbergh was born in Ede, the Netherlands, on the 17th of June, 1982. He attended high school (HAVO) at the Marnix College in Ede and graduated in 1999. That same year he started a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree specializing in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences in Nijmegen. He graduated in 2003 after completing an internship at NIZO food research in Ede. After graduation he worked as a research technician at the Molecular Cell Physiology department of the VU University in Amsterdam, where he studied the adaptation of the glycolysis of Saccharomyces cerevisiae to environmental changes.
In 2006 he started a Master degree in Forensic Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, which involved an internship at the Research and Development group at the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI). After his graduation in 2008 he accepted a PhD position at the NFI under the supervision of dr. Titia Sijen. He developed, validated and implemented mRNA profiling tools for body fluid and tissue identification in forensic casework. Since February 2013, Alexander is employed as a Lecturer at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda specialized in Molecular and Forensic Genetics.
