Research assistant, PhD candidate
Bio

I have a BA in Journalism and a MA in Media Communication, both from the department I now work at. My activity is divided between teaching, research and finishing my PhD thesis.

As a research assistant and PhD candidate, I focus my work on internet memes, viral content, internet culture and online communities. One could say that my research interests boil down to surfing the Web, but this would be an oversimplification.

I strongly believe that internet culture, with all it entails – memes, vloggers, Instagram influencers, political forums – forms a dominant culture that permeates every aspect of our lives, from the news we see, to the rhetoric we hear, the way we vote, how we construct our online presence and communicate.

I like working with big data obtained through API interrogations and scraping because it enables me to see the bigger picture – network analysis and natural language are my go-to tool for researching online communities.

As a teaching assistant, I cover both technical workshops (Web Design, Content Management Systems, Layout Design, Data Journalism, Digital Data Analysis) and theoretical lectures (Digital Platforms, Visual Communication) with Journalism and Digital Media students.
