Session 4: BrOLL Site VisitMM* (EDU)Campus Kanal A101Joke Den Haese: BrOLL (Brussels Open Living Lab) is a project that aims to connect children and adults from different worlds by discovering, experimenting and playing together. BrOLL is a socio-educational project in which old, discarded and leftover materials (cf. ‘junk’) from Brussels organisations and companies are actively ‘re'used in a co-creative process to connect people from different socio-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. In this Open Living Lab, generations meet and inspire each other. Exchange with others, through materials, can lead to meaningful interaction.
BrOLL forms a crossroads: a place in the city where young and old come together.
The intergenerational encounter gives children the opportunity (and confidence) to become ambassadors of their own city. Adults, in turn, discover the metropolitan world through children's eyes: what do they like about the city? What do they worry about? How do they see the future of their city?

Session 1: Guided tour of new arts campus RITCS*Campus Kaai B201In January 2025, part of the studio work within the RITCS, School of Arts will move to Campus Kaai. A site located in an old industrial zone outside the Quartier Latin that Erasmus University College developed in the city centre in recent decades.
From the School's vision and mission, the urban context is a key player in the pedagogical trajectory of our students. The polyphony and socio - cultural diversity is rewarding biotope for the development of artists - global citizens.
Due to pressure from urban expansion, this old industrial zone is in a reconversion phase towards increasing urbanization.
• We are looking at what the role of an art college can be in this process;
• Why involve the city in the curriculum?
• How do you open your campus to the city?
• How do you develop a place where education and research can connect with other workings in the city?
• How do you develop ground for initiatives that address local and supra-local challenges?
• How can the city influence the curriculum?

Session 2: Parental involvement in student mobilities abroad – The Prep4Pro experience All Campus Kaai B101Ellen Pauwels, GO! TA Zavelenberg
It’s not always easy to reach parents and involve them in the (formal) education of your students. However, parents often play a pivotal role in preparing students for studying abroad, offering emotional support and practical guidance, boosting motivation, and fostering independence.
What to expect? This presentation will discuss the Prep4Pro experience (Erasmus+ KA2 project on long-term student mobilities abroad in Vocational Educationan and Training (VET)) as to why it’s important to engage parents, how to reach out to them, and how their involvement can enhance students' readiness. By fostering open communication and collaboration, we can better support both students and their families throughout the journey of international education.

Session 1:  UCOS (Part 1)All Campus Kanal A202Target group: Lecturers preparing students for and guiding students during their stay abroad.
Goal of the session: Learn how to optimise student support and promote sustainable (student) engagement, and understand power dynamics in international relations.
Content: During this session, we will delve deeper into the power dynamics that play a role in collaborating with colleagues and partners in the Global South. We will apply these insights to our own work situation and the broader organization. Furthermore, you will receive tips and tricks on how to prepare students for their stay abroad, explore the main pitfalls for students, and get the tools to organise your own debriefing session after their return from abroad.
Session 2:  CLIL (Part 1)All Campus Kanal A203Teaching in a Foreign Language – "CLIL au secours para tod@s"
More and more non-language teachers use a foreign language to teach their subjects. Moreover, for many students, the school’s language is not their (only) home language, which requires a different teaching approach.
Field experts Kathleen Galle (lecturer in Organization & Management at EhB) and Karen Verhasselt (language advisor at Huis van het Nederlands) guide you through a hands-on, practical workshop. They will look together with you for answers to questions such as: “How do you start teaching scientific, technical, or economic subjects in a foreign language? How do you engage students who are still learning the language? What should you consider when selecting or writing study materials?” This workshop is designed for lecturers who are interested in or new to teaching a non-language subject in a foreign language.
Session 3: Jan Geers InclusieAll Campus Kanal A205For four years, the educational programs of RITCS and KCB have been organizing the project LEESKUNST. In this project, young artist-teachers work together with children from Brussels elementary school who have a reading deficit. Through art, we try to motivate these children to read. For this project, we collaborate with the Brussels Nieuwland School, located in the heart of the Brussels Marolles neighborhood. The children are guided one-on-one by an artist-teacher. Not only do they learn to read, but they are also introduced to the world of art. This is a barrier-reducing project with two objectives: on the one hand, we want to bring the children into contact with art; on the other hand, we want to promote their reading skills.
Jan Geers is a theater maker and teacher associated with the educational programs of RITCS and KCB. He is currently completing his artistic research into the necessity of social-artistic theater. This research is a search for what the contemporary practice of social-artistic theater means to Geers as a theater maker and educator.
