Unlike Campus Dansaert, RITS is actually on the Dansaertstraat. This trendy shopping street, full of design, fashion and jewellery shops, has a special place in the hearts of the inhabitants. The tourist heart of Brussels, the Grand Place, is nearby.
Students at this campus study "audiovisual arts",ranging from audiovisual assistance, to cinematography, sound, editing, animation film, documentary film, film, radio, scriptwriting, television, performing arts and stage techniques.
The RITS campus consists of several buildings which, since September 2008, have been interconnected in an ingenious way. Old and new have been integrated into one whole structure with a contemporary character.
The ground floor houses the Rits Café, a trendy establishment for students and Brussels residents. Further on, the building with the TV studios comprises various direction rooms and the animation department. The basement houses a projection room, and there are two floors with another brand new TV studio. On the higher levels there is a professional sound-effects studio with two audio direction rooms and a large auditorium. The TV and sound effects studios are built fully according to the box-in-box principle and meet very stringent noise standards. A noisy action film in the project room must not be audible in the TV studio above it.
The central interior courtyard has been turned into a green area with a terrace as an extension of the new café.
Radio students have their practicals elsewhere in Brussels in ‘Sonar,’ where they can avail themselves of all technical support. Drama students go to the Bottelarij, the theatre in the former Bellevue brewery.
