Incoming students are guided through e-mail by the International Office and the departmental contact person long before their arrival. Accommodation and pick-up are arranged. All incoming students are registered in the database and are issued a student card (providing them with an e-mail address and free access to libraries and e-learning platform). They also receive support from the Student Housing Administration and the European Student Network (ESN). Electronically available information comprises ECTS information, an introduction to the departments, information about Belgium and Brussels, administrative regulations before departure and upon arrival.
Regular students
Students who want to attend a degree programme at the Erasmus University College Brussels must have an adequate knowledge of Dutch which is the language of instruction (level 5 Dutch as a Foreign Language). The only exception to this requirement is the programme of the Royal Conservatoire of Music that welcomes students from all over the world each year.
Many foreign students come to the university college to study for one semester - sometimes by way of a modular system -while others undergo a work placement or choose one of our specialised advanced studies. Generally, they participate in one of the European mobility or exchange programmes. They are prepared and know some Dutch. They also learn Dutch as a foreign language.
On the other hand, it should be borne in mind that the ‘Capital of Europe’ is a cosmopolitan and therefore multilingual city.
To enrol as a regular student in one of the bachelor’s degree programmes, you have to submit following documents:
• a certified translation into English, French or Dutch of your diploma of secondary education
• a certified copy of that diploma
• an official document from the ministry of education or from a legal educational body certifying that your diploma of secondary education entitles you access to university in your own country or gives you the opportunity to participate in the entry examinations for universities
If you have already studied at a university, we need a certified copy of your diploma or certificate and a certified translation into English, French or Dutch of that diploma or certificate
If you want to enrol at the Royal Conservatoire of Music or at the RITS, you will have to pass an artistic entrance examination. Applications should be sent to jean.pierre.roose@ehb.be
Tuition fees
The tuition fees depend on your nationality and on the programme. The following category of students will pay the regular tuition fee:
• Students from the European Higher Education Area.
• Students who do not have the European citizenship, but who can prove that their parents, spouse, husband or legal guardian are established or live in Belgium, i.e. have their main occupation in Belgium (or have had for a minimum of 5 years).
• Students who are not European citizens, but are in Belgium with refugee status, conferred by the High Commissariat for Refugees of the United Nations, or are recognised as displaced persons by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Belgian General Commissariat for Refugees.
Students who are not European citizens, but have the citizenship of one of the countries with which Belgium or the Flemish Community signed a cultural agreement must provide proof that they obtained a grant under said cultural agreement.
Exchange students
The Erasmus University College Brussels has signed bilateral agreements for Erasmus student exchanges with many European and non-European partners. The Erasmus standard Application Form and Learning Agreement are to be used for enrolment, also by non-Erasmus exchange students.

Upon Arrival
Apart from the usual modern infrastructure, each department has one or more international coordinators, who act as tutors. They welcome you and help you settle in, but you can also turn to the Central International Office. The departmental coordinators introduce students into the life, structure and study of the university college and to what the city has to offer. They are supported by students who provide the necessary practical advice and inform visiting students about the student body. The Social Services Office provides information about health care, cultural activities, sports facilities and finding a job.
